Shooter’s Committee on Political Education (SCOPE) Candidate Rating Questionnaire
Clarendon Supervisor Candidate
Mission Statement
The mission of S.C.O.P.E., Inc. is to restore and protect the Second Amendment rights of New Yorkers.
We accomplish this by:
- Educating policymakers and law-abiding citizens on the meaning and importance of the Second Amendment.
- Collaborating with like-minded organizations to oppose and prevent laws that infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms.
- Mobilizing voters to elect leaders who will steadfastly defend the Second Amendment and uphold our constitutional rights.
SCOPE promotes greater voter engagement by providing opportunities for elected officials to meet with voters at our monthly meetings.
SCOPE also provides candidates for public office with opportunities to communicate their message to voters.
Please review and complete the following questionnaire.
S.C.O.P.E. Political Questionnaire
- What is the purpose of the Second Amendment?
- In the past, a portion of court fines related to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) violations was distributed to the Orleans County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs. Information regarding the Orleans County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs is provided below. These funds are used to support youth conservation initiatives within Orleans County. If elected, would you support a similar initiative within the Town of Clarendon? Please explain your position.
- Overreach by federal and state governments often takes the form of unfunded or unconstitutional mandates that burden local taxpayers and limit local autonomy. If elected, what specific legal, political, or administrative actions would you be prepared to take to resist or challenge federal or state directives that negatively impact the Town of Clarendon?
ORLEANS COUNTY FEDERATION OF SPORTSMEN’S CLUBS, INC.
Who Are We?
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to aiding in the formulation and establishment of sound policies, regulations, and practices designed to conserve, protect, restore, and perpetuate fish, wildlife, and their habitats, as well as the scenic and recreational areas enjoyed by sportsmen and women.
We strive to ensure that these policies, regulations, and practices are based on proven science and sound wildlife management principles rather than public opinion alone, with particular emphasis on Orleans County and New York State.
We support the efforts of individuals, organizations, and government agencies in preserving our heritage of hunting, fishing, trapping, shooting sports, and archery.
We are committed to educating the residents of Orleans County and New York State about the rights and responsibilities of sportsmen and women.
We represent the sportsmen and women of Orleans County with respect to their rights to hunt, fish, trap, and participate in archery and shooting sports, as well as their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
Please return the completed questionnaire to scopeorleans@outlook.com.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13th, at 7:00 PM at the Hoag Library in Albion. If you would like to attend, please let me know. We can allocate up to 25 minutes for each candidate who is available to participate.
One candidate in the room at a time, not a debate.
Thanks,
Mark D. Allen
Orleans County SCOPE Chairman
